Do You Want to Sell Your Home But Need to do Some Renovations Before You List?

When selling your home, it’s important to have your property looking its best. But, how do you know which investments will pay off and which will result in money down the drain?

Walls and Flooring

Refinishing or replacing aged floors and reinvigorating walls with a coat of paint are the least expensive fixes, and often can be done with the least hassle. Painting is the easiest fix. A simple, neutral color palette is attractive to buyers in today’s market, including light, muted colors, particularly grays.

Replacing hardwood flooring can be expensive, but staining and refinishing might be an easier way to rejuvenate current hardwood. When selecting new carpets, always choose a durable, builder-grade fiber in a neutral color that doesn’t clash with your walls.

Kitchen and Bathrooms

Refinishing an entire bathroom or kitchen should be reserved for only the most extreme cases. Instead, consider painting your cabinets, replacing drawer pulls and adding modern light fixtures to these areas of your home. These cheap fixes can increase the value of every kitchen or bathroom, regardless of shape. New fixtures in the bathroom are always less expensive than a new shower or sink.

You may also want to consider new appliances and counter tops in your kitchen. While these upgrades are expensive, they are items buyers heavily consider, and may be worth your investment.
